The Catholic Charities Diocese of Syracuse has grown in the past years and sought to enlarge its office spaces to allow more room for volunteers and staff. The charity chose to transform the building's 4th floor, which stored most of its archives, into an office space.
The challenge for this project was transforming the 4th-floor storage layout into an office layout. The renovated floor will include meeting rooms, a large event space, a gallery, a kitchen, a breakroom, closed and open office spaces, phone booths, a learning area, and a considerable amount of storage space.
This project's design approach was to reuse many of its existing materials in the renovation process and include a more open layout. This approach will enhance collaboration and exchange between clients, volunteers, and workers. Because this is a charity, my design philosophy was to incorporate more natural elements; featuring plants in the ceiling and keeping the original brick wall contribute to happiness and joy for the people visiting the organization.
