The North Salina Apartments are found in a historic building in downtown Syracuse. The owner of this building wanted to transform the building into a low-income apartment unit so refugees could afford to live in a cheap but well-designed residence.
This project's main challenge was to work closely with the city to preserve all the building's historical elements while implementing a more 21-century design.
My design approach for this project was to allow air to flow inside the building from one side to another. The floor plan layout is created to let outside airflow through open doors and windows in each apartment.
