In Early 2017, Syracuse Hancock International Airport was undergoing renovation for all its Terminals; as a part of design learning, this project focused on designing a restaurant, bar, and lounge for airport terminals that translate the region's atmosphere to the people traveling through Syracuse.
This project's main challenge was combining the regional setting and cultural background to create a branded design that represents Syracuse.
My inspiration comes from the Finger Lakes, located about 45 minutes away from the airport; while observing the finger lakes, looking at waterfalls, and various mountains, I thought of creating a dynamic set of designs to represent the region's geography and use light to portray the harsh winters in Syracuse.
My final design features a back-restaurant wall made with wavy woods, dynamic ceilings, a waterfall in the reception area, and a more organic layout to show the weather and the region's geographical setting.
